What is new in Viremail

Everything that changed, newest first. New features reach you the moment they are released, in the browser and in the desktop app alike.

Desktop app releases

  1. See who is coming

    • CalendarOnce a time is booked from Find a time, everyone answers Going, Maybe or Can't go on the poll, even without an account, and the answers show on the event.
    • VireYour own Vire link and QR code, in Settings, Vire and calls, so people can start a Vire with you from a link or a scan.
  2. Desktop 1.0.0

    Viremail for Mac, Windows and Linux

    • Viremail now has its own app for Mac, Windows and Linux.
    • On Mac and Windows, alerts for new mail, Vire messages and calls keep coming with the window closed. On Linux, turn on Keep running when closed in Settings, This device. The unread count sits on the app icon.
    • Email links from other apps can open a new message in Viremail, and viremail:// links open the right page.
    • The app only ever opens viremail.com, and links to other sites open in your browser.
    • On Windows and Linux, updates download in the background and wait for you to restart. On a Mac, new versions are on the download page for now.

  3. Drive and the office apps, smoothed out

    • DrivePreview an XLSX or CSV file in Drive and open it as a Grid in one click, or a DOCX file as a Write doc.
    • DriveA name you give a file is never changed by an update, and old notifications show a shared file by the name it has today.
    • GridThe Grid that collects your Collect form answers is named after the form once, then it is yours to rename.

  4. Tasks takes requests, and does the busywork

    • TasksLink a Collect form to a board, so each response becomes a task with a private status page for the person who asked.
    • TasksRules with no monthly limit, service levels in business hours, approvals pinned to the version people saw, and status reports that write themselves.
    • MailAdd to Tasks turns an email into a task, and Make a task does the same for a Vire message.

  5. Planning in Tasks

    • TasksSubtasks, epics and sprints with burndown and velocity, and a timeline with four kinds of links, the critical path and baselines.
    • TasksRepeats that skip bank holidays, board templates with roles and a start date, workload with time off, and timesheets that send billable time to a Grid.
    • TasksGoals measured from boards, Grids and Collect forms, workspaces with an audit log, guests, API tokens and signed webhooks.

  6. Booking pages, Find a time and polls

    • CalendarA booking page where people pick a free time, with a video call link on every booking.
    • CalendarFind a time: offer up to 12 times, see who can make each, and book the winner.
    • CalendarPolls anyone with the link can answer, with live results you can save as a Grid.

  7. Groups and a lot more in Vire

    • VireGroup Vires for up to 256 people, with invite links, admins, @mentions, pinned messages and threads.
    • VireVoice messages, reminders and saved messages, scheduled Vires, chat folders with rules and quiet hours.
    • VireDisappearing messages, view once and Confidential messages, big files through Drive, chat export and import, and translation on your device.

  8. Calls that hold on

    • CallsCalls find a new route when your network changes, and a reload puts you straight back in the call.
    • CallsYour voice gets priority on a weak connection, and bars by each name show how everyone is connected.
    • CallsIf a call really cannot be saved, it says so and offers Call again.

  9. New mail, in every app

    • MailNew mail now shows up while you work in any app, not only in Mail.
    • MailThe number on the app icon counts unread mail and unread Vires together.

  10. Deck, and logos for real senders

    • DeckDeck joins Write, Grid and Collect: slides you build together and present with speaker notes, with PPTX in and out.
    • ShieldSenders whose domain proves the mail is theirs get a blue shield, and their logo once a certificate authority has confirmed it.
    • DriveA storage view that shows what is using your space across mail and Drive.

  11. Drive, Write, Grid and Collect

    • DriveDrive keeps your files, encrypted on our servers, with sharing by person or by link.
    • WriteWrite, Grid and Collect for documents, numbers and forms, edited together in real time.
    • CallsVoice and video calls for up to 8 people, with call links guests can join from a browser.

  12. Calendar, Notes, Contacts and Vire

    • CalendarCalendar, Notes and Contacts arrive next to Mail, all with one sign-in.
    • VireVire, for messages, photos and files with people on Viremail.
    • MailPasskeys, encrypted email with OpenPGP, scheduled send, inbox categories and a Subscriptions view.
