Vire: Chat with one person or a group of 256, with voice, files, threads and stories
Vire is the chat app in Viremail. A single conversation is also called a Vire.
What you get
Groups of up to 256
Invite people directly or with a link and QR code that can expire, work once, or wait for an admin. Owners and admins decide who can post, pin and add people.
Threads, mentions and pins
Reply in a thread to keep a side conversation out of the way. Mention someone with @, pin what matters, and see who has read your message.
Voice messages
Record up to 15 minutes, listen at 1.5x or 2x and pick up where you left off. On supported browsers, Show text writes it out on your own device.
Later: reminders and saved messages
Get reminded about a message, save it with tags, or ask to be nudged only if nobody replies. The nudge closes itself when they do.
Send it at a good time
Schedule a Vire, repeat it weekly or monthly, or send it when the other person's quiet hours end.
Folders that fill themselves
Make your own chat folders and let rules keep them tidy: unread, mentions me, groups, people on a Tasks board, and more.
Messages that do not stick around
Disappearing messages, photos that open once, and Confidential messages that stay blurred and out of notifications and search.
Big files and live Drive cards
Files over 25 MB travel through Drive. Share a Write doc, Grid, Deck or Collect form and it shows as a live card, with access that follows the chat.
Translate on your device
On supported browsers, read and write in other languages without your words leaving your device.
Export and import chats
Keep a Vire as a Write doc, a PDF or an archive, or bring your history in from a chat exported by another app.
Stories for your friends
Share a photo, a short video or a few words for 24 hours, with your friends or only your close friends.
Quiet hours that let the urgent through
Hold notifications from Mail, Vire, calls, Tasks and Calendar while you sleep or focus. Favourites, @mentions and someone calling twice in three minutes can still reach you.
Polls and plans in the chat
Ask the group a question or find a time that suits everyone, without leaving the conversation. A message can become a task in one step.
Your own Vire link
Share a link or a QR code that starts a Vire with you. Your privacy settings still decide who can actually reach you.
Questions and answers
Who can message me on Vire?
You decide. In Settings, Vire and calls, choose who can message you, call you, add you to groups and see your stories. Messages from people you do not know wait in Requests.
Are Vire chats end-to-end encrypted?
Not yet. Vire messages travel over encrypted connections, and photos and files are stored encrypted on our servers, but message text is not end-to-end encrypted yet.
