Viremail for Claude and ChatGPT
Ask Claude or ChatGPT about your email, calendar, contacts, files, tasks and notes. You choose what it may see in Viremail, and nothing is sent until you approve it. Connected apps are in beta.
What it can do
Find and read
Search and read your email, a whole conversation, your calendars and events, contacts, files you own or that were shared with you directly, your tasks and your notes.
Find free time
Look across your calendars for a time that works, and suggest it.
Write drafts
Save an email in your Drafts folder for you to check. A draft never sends by itself.
Add events, docs and tasks
Add an event, change one you organise, create a Write doc, and add or update a task, if you allow it.
Send email you approve
When it wants to send an email or invite people, you get a notification and see exactly what would go out. Send or decline. After 30 minutes it is cancelled.
What it can never do
- Delete anything, move email, or empty a folder.
- Send attachments or forward files.
- See your Vault, your Vire chats, end-to-end encrypted email, or anything in the Trash.
- See mailboxes, calendars or files other people shared with you through Access sharing, or files you only opened from a link.
- Read your password, your account settings or your security settings.
- Mark email as read, or change anything just by reading it.
How you stay in control
You approve the connection
Viremail shows the app’s name, whether we have verified it, and the address it sends you back to. You pick the account and untick anything you would rather not share.
Verified apps only for sending
Claude and ChatGPT are verified. Any other app gets a warning and can only read and save drafts.
Approval before anything goes out
By default every email and invitation waits for you. You can switch an app to drafts only, or, after confirming your password, to sending without asking.
Limits on every app
At most 10 emails or invitations an hour and 50 a day, to at most 20 people each, only from your own addresses.
Text from others is marked
Emails and files can hide instructions meant to trick an AI. Viremail removes hidden text and marks what others wrote as their words, so the app treats it as information, not orders.
Only what it asks for
Viremail sends an app only what it asks for, within what you allowed, when you ask it something. We log what it did, never the content, and you can see that log in Settings.
Disconnect any time
Settings, AI and connected apps lists every app with what it may do and what it did. Disconnect ends its access at once and cancels anything waiting.
Connect Claude
- In Claude on the web or the desktop app, open Customize, then Connectors.
- If Viremail is listed in the connectors directory, choose it and select Connect. If it is not listed yet, choose Add custom connector and enter the address below.
- On a Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner adds it first in Organization settings, Connectors (Add, then Custom). Members then connect from Customize, Connectors.
- Viremail opens. Sign in, check the app is shown as Claude by Anthropic, choose the account and what it may do, then choose Allow.
- In a chat, use the + button, then Connectors, to turn Viremail on or off for that conversation.
The address to enter:
https://viremail.com/mcpIn Claude Code, run claude mcp add --transport http viremail https://viremail.com/mcp, then type /mcp and follow the sign-in in your browser. Claude Code signs in from your own computer, so Viremail treats it as an unverified app: it can read and save drafts, but not send.
Connect ChatGPT
- In ChatGPT, open the plugin directory and look for Viremail. If it is listed, open it and connect.
- If it is not listed yet, you can add it yourself where your plan allows: in Settings, Security and login, turn on Developer mode. Then open Plugins, select the plus button, give it a name, and enter the address below as the MCP server URL.
- Viremail opens. Sign in, check the app is shown as ChatGPT by OpenAI, choose the account and what it may do, then choose Allow.
- In a chat, add Viremail from the tools menu when you want ChatGPT to use it.
The address to enter:
https://viremail.com/mcpMenu names in Claude and ChatGPT change from time to time and can differ by plan. If a step does not match what you see, the app’s own help pages have the current way to add a connector.
Questions
- Does Claude or ChatGPT get my password?
- No. Each connection gets its own password, which only Viremail holds and which is deleted when you disconnect.
- Can an email I receive make the AI send something?
- It can try. That is why, by default, nothing is sent until you approve it, and why text from other people is marked as theirs. Always check who an email goes to before you choose Send.
- What happens to what the AI app reads?
- The company behind the app keeps it under its own terms and privacy policy. Viremail does not control that. Our Privacy Policy explains what we keep about each connection.
- Is it free?
- Connecting is part of your Viremail account. Claude and ChatGPT have their own plans, and some of their connector features depend on your plan with them.
