Connect Viremail to Claude or ChatGPT (beta)
Let an AI app read, draft and, with your approval, send what you allow.
You can connect Viremail to an AI app such as Claude or ChatGPT, then ask it about your email, calendar, contacts, files, tasks and notes. If you allow it, it can also save email drafts, add events, Write docs and tasks, and send email. Each email it wants to send waits for you to approve it first. Connected apps are in beta.
Connect an app
- In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, and add a custom connector. In ChatGPT, add a connector in its settings (you may need to turn on developer mode first).
- Give it this address:
https://viremail.com/mcp - Viremail opens. Sign in if you need to, and check the app's name, whether Viremail has verified it, and the address it will send you back to.
- Choose the account, untick anything you would rather not share, and choose Allow. If you signed in a while ago, Viremail asks you to confirm it's you first.
Apps Viremail has not verified show a warning, and can only ever read and save drafts. Sending and creating things is only for apps Viremail has verified, such as Claude and ChatGPT.
What an app can do
- Read: search and read your email, calendar, contacts, files, tasks and notes.
- Write drafts: save an email in your Drafts folder for you to check. Drafts never send by themselves.
- Send email as you: you approve each email in Viremail first. See Approve email an AI app wants to send.
- Add and change events: events without guests are added straight away. Inviting guests sends them email, so you approve that first too.
- Create files and add and change tasks: new Write docs in your Drive, new tasks, and changes to tasks you can edit.
No app can delete anything, move email, or send attachments.
What an app can and can't see
- It sees only what you ticked, in the account you chose, and only when you ask it something.
- Reading never marks email as read.
- It never sees your Vault, your Vire chats, end-to-end encrypted email, mailboxes or files other people shared with you through Access sharing, files you only opened from a link, or anything in the Trash.
- It never gets your password. Each connection has its own, which only Viremail holds and which is deleted when you disconnect.
Disconnect
Open Settings, AI and connected apps and choose Disconnect. The app loses access straight away. More in Disconnect an AI app.
