Billing and US sales tax
Your own sales tax rates, several on one invoice, and tax-exempt customers.
There is no federal invoice format in the United States, and sales tax depends on where your customer is. Billing does not look rates up for you.
- Add the rates you charge in Billing, Settings, Tax rates, such as a state and a county rate, and choose the right one on each line. An invoice can have several.
- For a tax-exempt customer, use an *Exempt* rate and put the exemption certificate in its note. It is printed on the invoice.
- Your EIN is optional on invoices.
