Answer calendar invitations in MailNew
Say yes, maybe or no to an invitation from the email itself.
When an email brings a calendar invitation, a card at the top of the message shows what it is, when it is in your own time zone, where, and who organised it. It also checks your calendar and tells you if you are free then, or which of your events it clashes with.
- Open the email.
- Under Going?, choose Yes, Maybe or No.
The event goes into your calendar with your answer, and the organiser gets your answer by email in the standard calendar format, so it updates their calendar whichever app they use. If you choose No and the event is not in your calendar yet, it stays out. You can change your answer at any time from the same card or from the event in Calendar.
When the organiser changes or cancels it
- An Updated invitation card means the organiser moved or changed the event. Answer again and your calendar gets the new details.
- A Cancelled card means the event is off. Choose Remove from my calendar to take it out.
Viremail only lets an update or a cancellation change an event in your calendar when it comes from that event's organiser. If an email claims to cancel an event that someone else organised, it is left alone. Anyone can write an organiser's address into an invitation, so when an update or cancellation was sent by someone else, or failed the sender check, the card says so: check with the organiser before you act on it.
The card shows who the invitation says it is from. If the sender looks wrong, or you don't know them, don't answer: your answer is sent to the organiser's address.
