Sign in faster with a passcode

A 6-digit passcode that unlocks Viremail and signs you in, on one device only.

A passcode is a 6-digit code that signs you in and unlocks Viremail on one device, like the passcode on your phone. It only works on the device where you set it: the device keeps a secret of its own, and the passcode does nothing without it. Someone who learns your passcode can't use it anywhere else.

Set a passcode

  1. Sign in on the device with your password or a passkey.
  2. Open Settings, Security and choose Set a passcode.
  3. Type 6 digits twice, then your password.

Easy codes such as 123456, 111111 or 121212 are refused. Pick one that isn't your birthday or part of your phone number.

Use it

  • On the sign-in page, choose your account under Quick sign-in on this device and type the passcode.
  • On the lock screen, type the passcode to carry on where you left off.

You can always choose Use password instead.

Wrong tries

After 5 wrong passcodes on a device, the passcode there is turned off. You then sign in with your password, and we tell you in the notification bell and by email. Signing in again doesn't bring it back: set a new one in Settings, Security.

When passcodes are removed

Every passcode for your account is removed when you change or reset your password, sign out everywhere, or turn two-step verification on or off. You can remove one yourself at any time in Settings, Security, for this device or any other.

Don't set a passcode on a shared or public computer. Use your password there, and sign out when you're done.
