Clock in and out

From the top bar, the desktop app, your phone or a kiosk at work. What is checked, and what never is.

If you are on your business's rota, Clock in sits in the top bar next to Vire. Select it, then Clock in. While you work it shows how long you have been on shift, with Start break and Clock out.

  • In the desktop app, choose Go, Clock In or Out, or the same item in the menu bar or tray icon.
  • On a phone, open Rota and choose Clock in, or the clock button at the top.
  • At work, your business may have a kiosk: see The kiosk.

Clocking in matches the shift you are on (from an hour before it starts). Clocking in with no shift is allowed and shows as unscheduled time on your timesheet.

What happens by itself

  • 5 minutes after a shift starts with no clock in, you get a reminder. At 30 minutes the shift is marked as a no-show and your manager is told.
  • If you forget to clock out, you are reminded 10 minutes after the shift ends, then clocked out automatically at the end of your shift. The day is marked for your manager to look at.
  • Shift reminders arrive 12 hours and 1 hour before each shift (your business can change these).

Location and network checks

Your business can choose to check that you clock in at work, by your location or by the work network. It can only do this after it has published its workplace monitoring notice.

  • Your location is read once, when you press the button, and kept with that clock time only, encrypted. Nothing is tracked in between.
  • If the check is off, no location is read at all.
  • There are no photos and no fingerprints, ever.
Your clock times are never edited. A manager who corrects one adds a new entry or removes one, with a reason you can see, and every correction is in the business's audit log.
