Follow up when nobody repliesNew

Get a reminder if an important email goes unanswered.

Some emails need an answer. Mail can keep an eye on them for you.

  1. Before you send, select the alarm clock next to Send.
  2. Choose when: in 1 day, 2 days, 3 days, a week, two weeks, or a date and time you pick.
  3. Send as usual.

If nobody replies by then, you get a notification and the email shows in Waiting for, in the mail sidebar. When a reply arrives, the reminder clears by itself. This works while your browser and computer are closed.

  • With several people, choose Until anyone replies or Until everyone replies.
  • Remind me even if they reply gives you the reminder either way.
  • Out-of-office replies and delivery failures do not count as replies. If an email could not be delivered, Waiting for says so.
  • For an email you already sent, open it, choose ⋯ and Remind me if no reply. On an email someone sent you, Remind me about this gives you a plain reminder.

In Waiting for, Nudge starts a short follow-up in the same conversation. You can also change the time or mark it done.
