Export or import a chatNew
Keep a copy of a Vire as a Write doc, a PDF or an archive, or bring history in from another app.
Export a chat
In a Vire's details choose Export chat. To export only some messages, select them first, then choose the export button at the top.
- Write doc in Drive: dates as headings, names and times, and links kept.
- PDF: opens the print window, where you can save it as a PDF.
- Archive (.zip): a page you can read in any browser, the messages as data, and the photos and files.
Choose everything, the messages between two dates, or only the ones you selected, and whether to include photos and files. Only messages you can see are exported, and confidential, view once and disappearing messages never are. The copy is yours to keep, outside Vire.
Import from another app
- In the other app, export the chat as a text file, with or without media.
- Open the Vire you want the history in, go to its details and choose Import chat history.
- Choose the file (.txt, .json or .zip, up to 200 MB), then match the names in it to people here, or keep them as plain names.
The file is read on your device. Imported messages keep their original dates and are marked Imported. Only you see them, unless you're an admin of a group and choose to share them with everyone. Shared history says who imported it, and the names from the file stay plain names: nobody's account is shown as sending them. Imported messages are marked in your Vires list and in search too, and the list shows the latest message sent in Vire rather than an imported one. Importing the same file again only adds messages that aren't there yet. Remove history I imported takes them out again.
