Send to a list from a GridNew
One personal email to everyone on a Grid, with their own name and details.
Write one message, and everyone on a Grid gets their own copy with their name, amount or anything else from their row.
- Write the subject and message, and add any attachments.
- Open the menu next to Send and choose Send to a list from a Grid, then pick the Grid.
- Check which column holds the email addresses. Put fields like {first_name} or {Company} in the subject and text: select a column's name to add it.
- Check the messages: step through every email exactly as it will go. Rows with no address or the same address twice are left out, and you can untick anyone.
- Choose the pace, and send.
The emails go one at a time from your address, with a pause between them, and carry on while your browser is closed. Follow along, pause or stop in List sends in the mail sidebar.
- Attachments go with every email, up to 10 MB in total. Share bigger files as a Drive link instead.
- Keep the Grid up to date adds two columns to your Grid, Email status and Emailed on, and fills them in as it goes.
- Every email ends with an unsubscribe link, and many mail apps show their own Unsubscribe button for it. People who unsubscribe are left out of your later list sends automatically. You can see them in Settings, Writing & sending.
- Bounces: when an email can't be delivered, the other mail server usually sends a report back to your Inbox. Mail reads these reports and marks that person Bounced. Out of office replies, read receipts and "still trying" notices are not counted as bounces.
- If many addresses are refused or bounce, the send pauses so you can check the list before it carries on.
- To keep the mail server trusted by other providers, there is a limit on how many people one list send can reach and how many list emails you can send in a day. Mail shows how many you have left before you send. Your personal emails do not count towards it.
- Each email is saved in your Sent folder. When a send is done or stopped, its attachments and the details from each row are deleted from Mail. Who it went to and how it went stay in List sends for 90 days.
Encrypted messages cannot be sent to a list.
