Send check: catch mistakes before they goNew
A quiet check for wrong recipients, forgotten attachments and private numbers.
When you press Send, Mail looks for the mistakes people make most. If everything looks right, nothing happens. If something looks wrong, you see a short note with a fix, and you can still send.
It points out:
- An address that looks like a typo of someone you write to, like [email protected] instead of [email protected], or gmial.com instead of gmail.com.
- Two people with the same name, when you picked the one you hardly ever write to.
- Reply all to more than 10 people or to a mailing list.
- More than 8 people outside your organisation in To and Cc, where they all see each other's addresses.
- Words like "attached" or "enclosed" with nothing attached.
- Someone from a new outside company added to a conversation that was only among colleagues.
- A card number, a UK National Insurance number or a bank account number (IBAN) going outside your organisation.
- Template fields you have not filled in.
While you type, a small dot marks people you have never written to before.
The checks run on your device, before a message is encrypted. Your message is not sent anywhere to be checked.
Tick Don't warn me about this again on a note to stop that warning, or turn each check off in Settings, Writing & sending.
