Piccolo and AI in Viremail

Your assistant in Vire, and Fix with AI for spelling, grammar and tone.

Viremail has two AI features. Both are optional, and you can switch them off in Settings, AI and connected apps.

Piccolo, your assistant

Piccolo lives in Vire. It is first in the Vire list, and its face sits in the top bar next to the bell. Press Ctrl+J (⌘J on a Mac) to open it anywhere.

Ask it in your own words. It can:

  • find emails, people, files and events, and read the email or page you have open to sum it up
  • write a draft reply or a new email in a compose window for you to check
  • add an event to your calendar, a task, or a note
  • start a Write doc with what you asked for, or open an app or a file

Piccolo only acts through Viremail, as you. It never sends an email, deletes, shares, pays or submits a form without asking you first in the chat, and you can always say no. Press the square to stop it at any time.

Its window can be minimised, pinned to the side like the Vire panel, or opened in Vire. Your chats with Piccolo are kept for your account only, and you can delete them in Settings.

Fix with AI

Look for the sparkle in compose, Write, Deck, Grid and Fields. Select some text (or nothing, to use all of it) and choose Fix spelling and grammar, More formal, Friendlier or Shorter. You see the suggestion first, with words taken out struck through. Nothing changes until you choose Accept, and Undo puts it back.

Spelling underlines are always there, without AI.

What is sent, and what never is

When you use them, your question or the text you chose is sent to the AI provider, Anthropic (Claude) or, if you pick it, OpenAI (ChatGPT), to get an answer. They do not use it to train their models. Viremail keeps only how many times you used AI each month.

Piccolo never reads your Vault, Vire chats and calls, end-to-end encrypted email, the lock screen or any field you type in, such as passwords and card numbers.

AI can be wrong, and a page or an email can contain text written to trick it. Check what Piccolo suggests before you send it.

Limits

Each account has a monthly allowance, shown in Settings. Business mailboxes have a larger one, and a business admin can switch AI off for the whole team in Business, Overview.
