Disposable addresses and aliases
Hide your real address when signing up for things.
A disposable address is a temporary address that forwards to your Inbox. Give it to shops, free trials and forms instead of your real address. When it expires or you turn it off, mail to it stops.
The quick way: select the mask icon at the top of the screen, pick how long it should work (1 hour, 6 hours, 1 day, 1 week, 1 month or 1 year), and choose Create and copy. The address is already on your clipboard, ready to paste.
To see all of them: open Disposable under Manage in the mail sidebar. From there you can copy an address, see how long it has left, make it last longer, find mail sent to it, or turn it off straight away.
When a message arrives through a disposable address, a label above it shows which one. You can turn the address off from that label if it starts getting spam.
Disposable addresses can receive mail but cannot send it. You can have up to 25 active at a time. Once one is turned off or expires, mail to it bounces.
Plus addressing also works: mail to you+shopping@yourdomain reaches you, and you can choose to file it in a folder named after the tag. Aliases are extra permanent addresses added by your administrator. You can send from them using the From menu when composing.
