Reviews: ask customers for a review
Included with Viremail Business. Add your review links, ask automatically when an invoice is paid, or ask by hand with a link, an email or Vire.
Reviews asks your customers to leave a review on Google, Trustpilot or another site. It works with Billing, so it can ask when an invoice is paid.
Add where customers leave a review (owners and admins)
- Open Billing, Reviews. (From the Business tab, choose Reviews under your business.)
- Under Where customers leave a review, add your review links. For Google, use the link from your Business Profile that starts with g.page/r/ or search.google.com/local/writereview. For Trustpilot, the evaluate link. You can add up to six.
- The first link is the one emails use. The same links show on your Profile and on your public business page. A link to a site that is not one of the review sites we know (Other) does not open by itself: your customer sees its address first and continues with a button. Your website and social links are in Business, Profile.
Ask automatically when an invoice is paid
Switch on Ask for a review when an invoice is marked paid. Then each paid invoice gets one email:
- When: straight away, or a few hours or days after the payment. 24 hours is the default.
- Review site: your first link, another one, or Let them choose, which shows one button per site.
- Ask the same person at most: once every 90 days by default. This holds for emails sent by hand too.
- Only for invoices of at least: leave it at 0 to ask for every paid invoice.
It works the same for invoices marked paid by hand and, once online payments arrive, for invoices paid online. If the invoice is refunded or credited before the email goes, the email is cancelled.
Automatic emails go from the address chosen in Billing, Settings, Send invoices from, and carry your business's postal address from Business, Profile. If either is missing, the emails wait and admins are told once.
Ask by hand
On a paid invoice, choose Ask for a review. On an unpaid one it is in the More menu. It is also on confirmed orders, and on a person in People under Reviews.
- Link: makes a link to copy or share from your phone. It works without signing in.
- Email: sends it now, from your business's address or from your own. See the email shows it as your customer gets it.
- Vire: sends a short message with the link.
Members can ask on their own orders and invoices. Owners and admins can ask anyone.
The email
You can change the subject, the opening and the ask. {first_name}, {business} and {service} are filled in for each customer. Below your words come one button to your review site, a line saying the link goes through Viremail, your postal address and an unsubscribe link.
What Reviews never does
Every customer gets the same email. It never asks for a rating first, and it never sends only happy customers to a review site while others are sent elsewhere ("review gating"). It never offers anything for a review either. Google's rules, the US FTC rule on consumer reviews (16 CFR Part 465) and the UK's Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 forbid these, so wording that offers a discount or asks for five stars can't be saved.
