Create mailboxes for your team
Give each person an address on your domain, then send them their details safely.
Once your domain is set up, open Mailboxes in your business and choose Create mailbox.
- Enter the person's name and a username. We tell you straight away whether the address is free.
- Type a password, or choose Suggest strong password.
- Add a recovery email (their own address outside work) and a recovery phone, if you have them. They help when someone forgets their password.
- Leave Ask them to choose a new password when they first sign in ticked, so only they know their password.
- Choose Create mailbox.
The first mailbox starts your free month. While Business is in early access, a few more mailboxes are free too; plans for more people are coming soon.
Send them their details
Straight after creating a mailbox you can share its details:
- Email sends the address, where to sign in and a link to the desktop app, from your own address, to their recovery email or any address you type.
- Vire sends the same to their Viremail address.
- Copy puts the details on your clipboard. The password is only included if you tick Include the password.
The email and Vire messages never contain the password. Instead they carry a one-time link: it shows the password once, after a click, and stops working after that or after 72 hours, whichever comes first. If the link has already been used, create a new password for them and share again.
Signing in the first time
The new person signs in with their address and the password from the link. If you left the box ticked, Viremail asks them to choose their own password before anything else opens. You can add a business mailbox to the same browser as your own account and switch between them.
